Chairmans Chat January 2008

Chairmans Chat January 2008

This year’s dinner and presentation looks like being the best for years. Mark Higgins, if not summoned to Monte Carlo, will support Wynn Humphreys and wait for it ladies, Jock Armstrong will make the trip from the Borders to be with us. All this adds up to what must be the highlight of the year so make sure you write down January 26 in your diary. Tony North will be judging the photo competition on Thursday January 3 at 8pm the venue will be this time at the Broadway Hotel, as the Headway is closed so dig out your 2007 snaps and let Tony cast his professional eye over them.
Morecambe Mutterings.
Meg Wiseman, daughter of the late ex chairman Edye was telling me that she had been on a days rally tuition and thoroughly enjoyed throwing a rally car about. I’m sure Edye wouldn’t have missed watching the action from somewhere above.
It was sad to hear that Tony Fall had passed away. I remember him and Mike Wood at a Morecambe meeting at the Carnforth Cricket Club in the 1960’s when Tony worked for Shorts Lifts in Bradford. I think he had only just embarked on his first works Mini drive; anyway, Tony was telling this tale and using body and hand motions to say how high they yumped over this brow. When he sat back on the trestle table and broke it in half dispersing Trophies and the like all over the cricket club floor. It’s a great shame he went so early in life.
All the best for the New Year
See you at the Broadway on 3 January 2008
Cheers

Bruce
